Laminating

I'm curious as to know what method each uses to laminate. When cutting your lamination do you put back of slab to back of lamiate? Or do you roughen up polished part of laminate and (http://maplered.com) put it to the back of the slab? I seem to get a tighter seam when I put polish side of laminate to the slab.
